Quick History of Mercedes-Benz
Often credited for the creation of the first gas-powered automobile, Karl Benz patented his invention in 1886, originally produced by Mercedes (the “Benz” came later). In 1902 a racing driver and automotive entrepreneur Emil Jellinek was racing his Mercedes 35 hp, named after his daughter. Karl and Emil met and decided to join forces calling their new brand “Mercedes-Benz.”
Since then, Mercedes has become a dominant force in the luxury car segment, introducing a variety of safety features taken for granted today such as: fuel injection, crumple zones and ABS on production cars.
