A BRIEF HISTORY OF DODGE
Dodge Brothers Company was formerly a machine shop in the early 1900s started by brothers Horace Dodge and John Dodge. It supplied parts and assemblies to Detroit automakers like Ford back then and it wasn't until 1914 before their first complete automobile was built.
Unfortunately, brothers Horace and John weren't able to see what they built for much longer as they both passed away in 1920, one from the Spanish Flu and the other, cirrhosis of the liver.
Over the years, the Dodge company would be sold to the Chrysler Corporation in 1928 and later in the 21st century be split off into several divisions ran now by PSA Group (Stellantis), who also run Fiat, Chrysler, Jeep, Ram Trucks and Alfa Romeo overseas.
Today, Dodge focuses on three major performance brands; the Charger, Challenger and Durango while Ram Trucks, still branded with the Dodge emblem, have separated into its own division where the name is branded now as Ram.
