A BRIEF HISTORY OF KIA
Kia, formerly owned by the Kia Motor Company has a unique background. Founded in 1944, it's origins started by providing Korea's first domestic bicycles. As the years passed, the company built small motorcycles (1957) and trucks (1962) eventually leading to car manufacturing (1974). In 1987, Kia declared bankruptcy and was purchased by Hyundai Motor Company.
Today, Kia America, Inc., a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company, has led the charge for American sales, and marketing mostly out of Irvine, California, and Georgia. The company today sells a variety of electric cars, SUVs, crossovers, sedans, hatchbacks, and hybrid electric vehicles.
